Self Confidence Exercises

Confidence Building Exercises: #1. Positive thinking Learning to think positively on a consistent basis takes practice but has been proven time after time to produce incredible results. The power of the mind is something that simply should not be underestimated. Scientists have discovered and confirmed for decades, the substantial effects that the mind has on the physical body and emotional health. The key is repetition. We have a tendency to form habitual patterns of negative thought when things are not going the way we want them to. If this persists for long, it can have profound negative effects on our over-all mental well being.

Every day, recognize negative feelings, beliefs, and language as they arise during your daily activity. Consciously confront these negative thoughts and push them out of your mind. Immediately refocus on positive thought. Think about the people that you really like or love, consider what it is that you like about them. Think about all the things that you like about your home. Think of the things that you love to do and the places that you love to go. Hone in on these positive things and seek out new things that you notice each day that you really like. Dwell on these positive things. Another thing that is fun and helpful for this is to think about the positive possibilities of the future. If all the things that you are currently working toward, worked out perfectly, where might you be in 5 years? How about in 10 years?

Now discipline yourself to make these activities into habit. This is the crucial part. The repetition is what makes these positive thoughts stick over time and start to change your outlook, approach and attitude. As those things begin to change, so will your life.

Confidence Building Exercises: #2. Deep Breathing Many people believe that deep breathing is just a way to quickly calm nerves or relieve stress. It certainly does those things but deep breathing is also critical in many other ways including your self confidence. Think about it. Our confidence is deeply affected by our stresses and fears. Deep breathing works to combat both of those things quite effectively. Practicing deep breathing when those fears arise will help to reduce their impact on your self confidence.

The thing to note is that deep breathing should not be reserved exclusively for those instances but instead be practiced and formed into constant habits. You need to train yourself to breath more deeply at all times. Deep relaxed breathing is naturally associated with calm, confident and secure mentalities while short quicker breaths are naturally associated with panic and fear.

Practicing deep breathing will improve your health as well. It helps to expel carbon dioxide from the blood more efficiently and cleans the blood stream. It develops stronger lungs which are core organs that very strongly affect the over-all heath of our physical and nervous systems.

Sit in a quiet place and relax each part of your body starting with the feet and working your way up. Clear your mind by visualizing each deep breath completely filling your lungs and expanding your diaphragm to maximum capacity. Exhale through your mouth but spend twice as much time exhaling as inhaling. Do this for 10 minutes each day and begin training yourself to breath full and deep throughout the day. It will take practice but it will also make a significant impact on the way you feel.

Confidence Building Exercises: #3. Affirmations Affirmations are a practice that is usually associated with positive thinking and self esteem. Those concepts tie indirectly to our self confidence as a whole but they can also be tailored to use as a confidence building exercise. Affirmation is the practice of "telling" yourself about your attributes and attributes that you wish to have, in a powerful and positive manner. They are most effective when spoken aloud, boldly, often and with conviction. For example, saying something like "I am a great speaker!" would be an example of an affirmation that focuses on a confidence related trait. You may be thinking that it would feel silly to sit and talk to yourself in this manner but silly or not, affirmations can have an immensely positive effect on the mind over time. I suggest practicing this anytime you find yourself alone which helps you get past the feeling of embarrassment or silliness. For instance, when driving in your car, taking a shower, or any other time you find yourself out of earshot of the nearest would-be critic.

Some great affirmations for self confidence might be: 1. "I know my abilities and I am good at what I do." 2. "I believe in myself and I love being me." 3. "I have experienced success and I can handle any problem that I face." 4. "Fear is only a basic emotion and I will not allow it to limit my life." 5. "I deserve to win and achieve my goals." 6. "I know that I can master any challenge when I focus and commit." 7. "I have many victories because I am a winner by nature." 8. "I do not fear failure; I embrace it because it helps me to grow." 9. "I am strong and my will is powerful." 10. "I have the power to achieve anything that I want to." 11. "Each day my inner strength and power grows greater." 12. "I trust my own judgment and have complete faith in myself." 13. "I can accomplish ANYTHING!" 14. "My life holds great significance." 15. "I am proud of myself for attempting to change and grow." 16. "I will not hesitate. I will charge forward and seize what is mine." 17. "With every new day, I become more powerful and I get closer to my goals." 18. "Today, I will smash through the first limitation that confronts me!"

See how many you can come up with on your own and practice them as often as possible. You will start to see the positive results when these affirmations become a regular part of your day!

These are just a few confidence building exercises that you can practice on your own over time. Take these and develop your own plan to implement them in your daily life. There are also many all-inclusive programs and courses that can get you on a powerful guided path to sky-rocketing your self confidence. You can find some great programs along with many other tips for building self confidence with a little thought and some effort.

Building Confidence Can Change Your Life

Perhaps you have learned about staying positive and prepared yourself mentally to move forward toward your goal of confidence building. You are working on getting your mind right and you have some ideas and understandings about where to go from here. You know that by taking things one step at a time and making consistent effort to accomplish small victories along the way, your confidence building goals will become realities. Don't be afraid to stumble or fail along the way. Each time you do, you will learn valuable lessons that will empower and strengthen you for consecutive attempts. So what now?

Arm Yourself with the Right Information. I've said it before and I'll say it until I am old and gray. The motivation and desire to achieve is only half of the battle. Confidence building can be a challenging undertaking. You must first get informed. Capitalize on the efforts of the thousands of people who have come before you to understand and achieve high levels of self confidence.

Over the years, significant progress has been made to better understand this widespread problem. Masterful techniques have been developed and tested on many people and over many years. Confidence building is an age-old practice. Ignoring all of this work and trying to figure out what works on your own would be an arduous chore to say the least. There is no need to reinvent the wheel. Learn from those who have already found whatever it is that you seek.

Reading and gathering helpful tidbits of information about confidence building, is quite helpful in the beginning and I certainly love the fact that you reading what I have to share. However, it would be foolish of me to assume that this advice alone would take everyone speeding along the path of confidence building success and ensure your unlimited and immediate triumph. Know that there are also many powerful and well developed courses out there that can give you a structured and well supported path to follow. I can recommend a couple good ones later. Moving forward...

Remember to keep it Simple. In the beginning, examining the many processes of confidence building can seem overwhelming. One reason for this is that there is a lot of information out there to process and at times, it is difficult to distinguish fact from opinion. This is why you need to keep it simple. Refer to the information that you uncover often to help get it locked into your brain, but when it comes to action, don't try to remember everything you've seen and heard all at once.

Just remember that taking action to accomplish small successes whenever an opportunity arises will help you to continue making steady progress on your path of confidence building efforts. Enjoy these small simple triumphs as they come and revel in their glory. They represent progress which is the most important thing in any worthwhile pursuit. Don't go out and try to conquer the world in your early days. Save giving speeches to an auditorium full of people for a little later in the game if you need to. You'll get there! There's no reason why you can't give the speech to your grandmother or your cat first! I've done this...

Examine Your Goals. If you've looked into the confidence building process, you likely learned about preparation and staying positive. Perhaps you learned about setting small, specific, achievable goals. Each goal should be a small attempt to break you out of your comfort zone. For instance, approaching a stranger and striking up a conversation, would be a small but achievable goal that may help you expand your comfort zone. You should think of many small goals like this and many tougher ones as well. Once, you have a list of them put together, you are ready to take some action armed with nothing more than the lessons that you've learned so far in life and your own personal courage. Yes, you have courage. I don't want to hear it!

Take a look at your goals. You should lay them out clearly and in order from easiest to most difficult. Once you've done that, look at the first goal on your list. This is soon going to be your first of many successes. Prepare yourself mentally by visualizing how you intend to approach this situation. Now write down an action version of goal number one. It should look like this: "I will accomplish (insert your goal) by the end of today," or something like that. Setting a deadline will help motivate you to resist procrastination. Now go and do it.

If you keep it simple and easy at first, you should have few problems. Once you have accomplished this first goal, record it and rejoice in your small victory. How did it feel to approach this situation? We're you nervous? If so, I believe that you should repeat it until you are completely comfortable with it. Then, simply move on to the next goal. You will likely find that your confidence has already improved. This game of confidence building is not as hard as you may have originally thought!

Keep Your Head in the Game. When you were getting prepared, you probably learned about the importance of getting your mind right. You learned about eliminating negative thought and accepting the likelihood of your success. In between each of your victories, return to those concepts and reaffirm or establish them in your mind. After some practice, you will find that these concepts will stick with you permanently and begin to affect the way you think and view the world around you at all times. It is likely, if you are really putting yourself out there, that you will eventually make some mistakes or experience some failures as well. This is not going to affect your progress because you already know that the confidence building path embraces the possibility of failure as an opportunity to grow and learn. You do not fear failure! Don't forget this because the first failure will feel like...well...failure. It won't feel nice but you will shake it off and move on.

This is a big lesson in itself. Once you truly master the concept of embracing failure, you will feel a huge weight lift as the bulk of your fears simply fade away. In most of us, fear of failure is one of the biggest causes of low self confidence.

This is a basic but helpful approach to help build up your confidence over time on your own. While there are certainly some more comprehensive, guided and structured programs available, this simple approach can be quite effective if you are disciplined enough to stick with it over time. The important thing is that you find something that works for you and give it everything you have...

Financial Success Requires the Willingness to Take Action

Achieving financial success, especially on the internet, requires quick and meaningful action to be taken. This is to say that as internet business opportunities reveal themselves, and they will, it is up to the individual to act swiftly and decisively. Most successful entrepreneurs will tell you that there is little room for day dreaming if you have aspirations of making it big online. In fact one of the biggest reasons the internet is such fertile grounds for small businesses is because it is littered with all sorts of opportunities. In many cases the difference between success and failure is a persons ability for taking action when opportunity knocks because it usually only knocks once.

Here are 3 reasons most successful entrepreneurs have adopted an act 'now think later' philosophy about their pursuit of trends and internet business opportunities. What you will find is that this approach is not as risky as it may sound!

Take Action

The 'proactive' entrepreneur typically regards any internet business opportunities that show promise as something they either act upon immediately or forget about it completely. There is no 'middle of the road' thinking here insofar as possibly taking action later on. They know future efforts will not offer the same advantages or benefits due to a decreasing demand or increasing competition! In addition the longer you postpone on making any decisions the less likely any decision will even be made.

It Scores

Fast action, even without a well thought out plan, will give you a much better idea as to the promise any venture may hold. If potential is evident, it is at this time many successful entrepreneurs will begin to develop a more comprehensive plan or strategy to make the most out of the opportunity. By putting together a plan 'after' seeing verifiable potential you know the effort you are investing will be worth your time.

How often have businesses done much intensive preparation for a product or niche only to find later that their efforts were not profitable? Now time and money has been wasted!

If It Fails – Next!

If the opportunity turns out to be a waste of time, nothing venture in terms of preparation and nothing lost in terms of financial investment. By taking action immediately you can get a better feel as to whether more of your time and effort is warranted. Here again you have save yourself much in terms of time, effort and frustration.

The potential for financial success exist in many different opportunities that present themselves to people but to turn this potential into reality requires taking action. This may be the single biggest difference between successful entrepreneurs and those who fail. It is all too common for people to hesitate when facing big decisions which then leads to self doubt and eventually no action being taken. The reasoning behind the willingness for many entrepreneurs to make such quick decisions concerning business matters is reveal in the discussion above here today. Surprisingly, for what appears to be such a risky approach, their reasoning reveals some very logical, sound and profitable thinking.
